Request for Review: Acute Intraocular Inflammation Draft Brighton Case Definition

Dear Brighton Collaboration members:

SPEAC is developing a new Brighton format case definition for “Acute Intraocular Inflammation”. This is an AESI that was included on the AESI list for both Rift Valley Fever and Chikungunya, but could apply to many other vaccine preventable diseases such as Dengue.

The Working Group looks forward to feedback from Brighton stakeholders on the useability and applicability of the draft case definition in their specific settings of vaccine safety practice.

In the past, when new case definitions were sent out for stakeholder review, the draft manuscript (intended for publication in Vaccine) was provided. In an effort to speed up the case definition development process, we are now working with the expert working group to draft the initial case definition with proposed criteria and levels of certainty and get stakeholder feedback early in the process, well ahead of drafting the full manuscript.  Later there will be expert peer review sought of the manuscript, to focus on scientific validity of the proposed case definition.

We look forward, and will respond, to your feedback on this early draft case definition. Please submit your responses by 8pm ET Monday, September 8, 2025.
