Just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic on December 2-3, 2019, the WHO Global Vaccine Safety Summit was held to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS). Two major publications from the Summit are now available:
1) The Global vaccine safety blueprint 2.0 (GVSB2.0) 2021-2023
2) A special issue of BMJ summarizing the main sessions of the Summit.
While new lessons regarding vaccine safety have been learnt since during the COVID-19 pandemic, these documents remain valuable for understanding the larger context of advancing vaccine safety overall.
