Abstract
The case definition for Anosmia has 3 levels of certainty. All require loss of sense of smell. A definite case requires assessment by a clinical specialist applying a standardized orthonasal olfactory test. A probable case (level 2)  can be met with assessment by a non-specialist physician using an office-based non-standardized test to confirm loss of sense of smell.  Possible cases require only a report of loss of sense of smell.
