As global distribution of COVID-19 vaccine expands, the Brighton Collaboration has identified a subset of adverse events of special interest (AESIs) for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to prioritize in their enhanced safety surveillance. The core AESIs are categorized in two tiers; most Tier One AESIs would be hospitalized and can be included in hospital-based sentinel site surveillance, whereas Tier Two and can be assessed in cohort event monitoring or outpatient settings.
