WHO Resource References Brighton Collaboration Standards

A recent World Health Organization (WHO) publication available through WHO IRIS highlights the importance of standardized approaches to vaccine safety assessment and monitoring in supporting global immunization efforts and public health preparedness.

The resource references the Brighton Collaboration as part of the broader ecosystem of internationally recognized vaccine safety science tools and methodologies used to support consistency in adverse event assessment, data interpretation, and evidence generation across studies, surveillance systems, and geographic regions.

For more than two decades, the Brighton Collaboration has worked with experts from academia, public health agencies, regulatory authorities, industry, and global health organizations to develop standardized case definitions and tools for adverse events following immunization (AEFI). These resources are designed to improve comparability of safety data, strengthen scientific rigor, and support clearer communication during both routine immunization activities and public health emergencies.

As vaccine development timelines accelerate and immunization programs expand globally, harmonized vaccine safety science remains essential for enabling meaningful data sharing, supporting regulatory and policy decision-making, and strengthening public confidence in vaccines.
